“Devoção em Viagem – Em torno do altar portátil do Museu do Centro Científico e Cultural de Macau”, de Isabel Mayer Godinho Mendonça, analisa a arca altar portátil pertencente ao acervo do Museu do centro Científico e Cultural de Macau, tentando estabelecer paralelos e identificar eventuais elementos de proximidade com outros exemplares existentes em coleções portuguesas e brasileiras, públicas e privadas.
Os roteiros são uma das ferramentas mais importantes para o exercício da pilotagem, usados a par com um conhecimento técnico de base e com outros recursos, como cartas, regimentos, tabelas e, naturalmente, instrumentos náuticos. […] Textos que me relembraram muitas centenas de milhas de navegação à vela, muitas horas passadas ao leme do velho Veja, nos mares do continente e dos Açores, usando apenas a vela e a força do vento, fosse ele qual fosse. Dias e noites em que contava mais o instinto e a prática do marinheiro que, apesar de dispor de alguns meios modernos de navegação, ainda sente de perto o cheiro do mar e do vento, os respingos da saraivada e o cantar das velas e dos cabos. E esses textos dos séculos XVI e XVII, que nos descrevem as rotas, tal como eram percorridas na altura, estão carregados desse cheiro do mar e do vento, espelhando de uma forma intensa e humana a ansiedade de um piloto que carregava consigo a responsabilidade de conduzir a bom porto e em segurança o seu navio, com todas as mercadorias e pessoas.
The worship of Mazu (Tianfei, Tianhou, etc), the chinese Goddess of Seafarers, is very much alive in Fujian and Guangdong, on Taiwan and Hainan, in Macau and Hog Kong and among the overseas in Southeast Asia. Religious, political and other institutions in China’s coastal belt, especially in Fijian where the cult is said to have originated, as well as in many Taiwanese locations are involved in the promotion of the belief in Mazu. Temples and shrines dedicated to her, and often endowed with sizeable funds, have established highly complex relations across the Taiwan Strait and between communities in China and Southeast Asia, thereby actively contributing to the exchange of cultural achievements, religious tourism and, above all, to mutual understanding at all levels of society.
